"Fear of Transformation" by Danaan Perry comes from the author's book Essene Book of Days.

It is not related to being gay or even being a father. Rather it describes the exhilaration of life altering changes and the fears that inhibit us from making those changes. Using the metaphor of the high-flying trapeze act, "The Fear of Transformation" describes the terror of letting go, sailing across the abyss of the unknown, and the exhilaration and renewal from successfully grabbing onto the next trapeze.

Coming out - especially for men who have created a families - seems terrifying yet irresistible. This essay describes both that allure and fear of not knowing what lies ahead.
